I realized one day I needed a mental coach.

The following week I met with Suzanne for our first session, and two weeks later we met for our second session on the course.

Since then, playing daily for the last two weeks, I’m amazed at how fluid, relaxed and consistent I’ve been, shooting under par with no less than 4-6 birdies per round.

Suzanne is amazing.  She’s unlike any sports psychologist I’ve worked with. We do some interesting things – and they work – much more quickly than I would have imagined!

Handicap Going Lower

“I just got my new Index from the NCGA [Northern California Golf Association — Ed.]. I am now at 12.1 [handicap]. I started at 14.4 in August. It has gone lower every month.

More important though is my change in attitude. My enjoyment is much higher, and I know that I can continue to improve. When we started this, I thought I was not going to get better, and my Index hadn’t changed much in a year.

As Good As EVER

Over 30 years ago I had been a fairly good golfer, playing all the major championship golf courses in England and Scotland, however after a decade of not playing, I decided to enjoy the game again.

Unfortunately, I could never get my game even close to what it used to be.  I had all the shots but could never execute when I needed to. So I decided to balance [a term used in Mindful Success Golf] for an upcoming club match play tournament with hope that my performance would be respectable.

I balanced for:  ‘I am confident, I am calm” and also “I only remember the positive experience of being a good golfer.’

During the tournament, I was amazingly calm and confident.  But the real thing that surprised me was that even if I missed a shot, I only remembered my past success as a golfer.  Although I started off behind at the beginning of each match, I held my mind set easily and by the end of the game I was the winner!

I now realize that the reason I lost my edge in golf was subconsciously reviewing my failures not my successes. Thank goodness for PSYCH-K [a process used in Mindful Success Golf] that makes this process a snap by giving the job to my subconscious!

Last night I did a couple of balances for my golf game. Today I shot my best score of the year, 2 under par, and the crazy thing is I lipped out 3 birdie putts and “burned the edge” on 2 more and barely missed another 4 putts. I could have (if those near misses fell in) had the course record by 5 shots. That’s unheard of.
